Information Requested

How many formal complaints, safety flags, or adverse incident reports have been raised internally by Scottish Ambulance Service staff regarding the condition of active ambulances in each of the last 3 financial years?

Response

The Scottish Ambulance Service does not hold the information requested.

While the Service records complaints, safety concerns and adverse incidents, these records are not categorised in a way that would allow us to identify and report on those relating specifically to the condition of active ambulances, including matters such as quality, safety, mechanical failure or cleanliness.

To determine whether a record fell within the scope of your request would require a manual review of individual records and the application of judgement to decide whether each record related to the condition of an ambulance. This information is not recorded in a reportable format and there is no existing dataset from which the requested figures could be extracted.

Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, authorities are required to provide information that they hold but are not required to create new information in order to answer a request. Accordingly, under section 17 of FOISA, we are required to give notice that the information requested is not held.
