What is the mandatory scheduled servicing interval (in terms of either time elapsed or mileage reached) for frontline ambulances currently operating in Scotland?
- Response
The Scottish Ambulance Service does not operate a mandatory scheduled servicing interval for frontline ambulances based on either a fixed period of time elapsed or a fixed mileage threshold.
However, all frontline ambulances are subject to internal maintenance and inspection programmes designed to ensure vehicles remain safe, roadworthy and operationally available. This includes regular safety inspections, which are typically carried out approximately every eight weeks.
In addition, vehicles are serviced in accordance with maintenance schedules appropriate to their vehicle type and operational requirements. As these schedules vary depending on the category and specification of the vehicle, there is no single mandatory servicing interval that applies across the entire frontline ambulance fleet.
